Balloon kebab is a fun and creative dish that is made by skewering a variety of ingredients onto a balloon and then cooking it. The dish originated in Turkey and has become popular around the world due to its unique presentation. To prepare balloon kebab, a balloon is blown up and tied securely. The balloon is then coated in a thin layer of oil to prevent the ingredients from sticking. Skewers are inserted into the balloon, and various ingredients are threaded onto the skewers. How be made Balloon Kebab;

  • Step 1

    Take half a kilogram of diced beef cubes and place them in a pot. Cook over medium heat until the meat releases its juices and they evaporate.

    Then, add 1.5 cups of water and cook again over medium heat until the water is absorbed.

  • Step 3

    Add 2 tablespoons of butter and sauté the meat. Finely chop 1 onion and 2 green peppers, then cook them with the meat for 5 more minutes.

    Peel and dice 2 tomatoes. Add the diced tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoo of red pepper flakes to the meat. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside to cool.

  • Step 5

    To make the dough, in a bowl, combine 4 cups of flour, 3 tablespoons of yogurt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1 packet of baking powder, 1 tea cup of water, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Knead the mixture well until a firm dough forms.

    Let the dough rest for 15 minutes, then divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll out each piece to about 20 cm in diameter.

    Place a generous amount of the meat mixture in the center of each rolled-out dough. Cover with another piece of rolled-out dough.

  • Step 8

    Insert a pipette between the two layers of dough. Seal the edges of the dough, ensuring the pipette is positioned between them.

  • Step 9

    Blow air into the pipette, causing the upper layer of dough to puff up like a balloon. Once inflated, carefully remove the pipette and seal the pipette hole.

  • Step 10

    Repeat the process for all pieces of dough, resulting in 4 Balloon Kebabs. Mix 1 egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of milk, and brush the mixture gently over the puffed dough.

  • Step 11

    Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees until the top is golden brown. Once cooked, remove from the oven and serve. Enjoy your meal!
