Belen pan is a pan prepared by blending meat with tomatoes, peppers, garlic and various spices and cooking it in the oven on an earthen tray. It can be made with minced meat or cubed meat. It takes its name from the Belen district of Hatay, Turkey. Here’s recipe of Belen pan;

How be cooked Belen Pan

  • Step 1

    Chop 500 grams of meat into bird head shape.

  • Step 2

    Place the meat in the baking tray you will cook in.

  • Step 3

    Chop 4 green peppers, and 2 red peppers, and add them to the meat. Chop 3 tomatoes into cubes and add them to the meat.Add 15 pearl onions without chopping.

  • Step 4

    Add ½ tea cup of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon of powdered red pepper, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of salt, and mix the ingredients by hand as if kneading.

  • Step 5

    Finally, add 2 tablespoons of butter to the mixture in its solid form.

  • Step 6

    Cover the tray with aluminium foil and cook in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius until the meat is cooked. Please cook with caution as the cooking time may vary for each oven.

  • Step 7

    Remove from the oven after cooking and serve. Enjoy your meal.
